Google is rolling out Gemini’s real-time AI video features

Google is now launching real-time AI video features for Gemini Live. This update allows Gemini to analyze smartphone screens or camera feeds instantly. According to Google representative Alex Joseph, these advanced functionalities are now accessible to select Google One AI Premium subscribers.

Nearly one year ago, Google showcased “Project Astra,” the technology driving these innovations. Users recently started noticing Gemini’s capabilities appearing on devices, such as a Xiaomi smartphone highlighted by 9to5Google. This rollout includes Gemini’s impressive ability to interpret live content displayed on your screen.

Another key feature involves Gemini processing real-time smartphone camera footage. Google illustrated this capability in a recent demonstration, showing Gemini assisting a user to select paint colors for pottery. By analyzing the live camera view, Gemini effectively answered real-world visual questions.

These advancements solidify Google’s position in the competitive AI assistant market. While Amazon’s Alexa Plus and Apple’s upgraded Siri remain pending releases, Google’s Gemini has already set a new benchmark. Samsung’s Bixby remains active, but Gemini has become the default assistant on Samsung phones, highlighting Google’s ongoing leadership in AI technology.
